Our mission and community
Nest31 is a community built by and for parents raising children on the autism spectrum. The name comes from the CDC's finding that 1 in 31 children are now diagnosed with autism — and "Nest" because every family deserves a safe place to land. We connect parents through shared experiences, practical resources, and honest conversation. Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis, advocating for an IEP, learning what works for your child, or celebrating a milestone nobody else would understand — this is your space. A welcoming community where every question is valid, every win matters, and no parent has to figure this out alone.

These rules keep Nest31 safe and supportive for everyone. Violations may result in removal of content or account suspension.
Be kind and supportive
We're all dealing with something difficult. Treat every member with the compassion you'd want for yourself. No bullying, harassment, or personal attacks.
No medical advice
Share your personal experiences freely, but do not present information as professional medical guidance. Always encourage others to consult a doctor.
Stay on topic
Posts and comments should relate to autism, its physical or emotional impact, treatments, products, or the community experience. Off-topic content will be removed.
No harmful content
Content promoting self-harm, suicide, violence, abuse, discrimination, or illegal activity is strictly prohibited and will be removed immediately.
Protect your privacy
Do not share personal contact information — phone numbers, addresses, or social media handles — in public posts or comments. Use direct messaging for personal connections.
No spam or self-promotion
Affiliate links, product promotion, or repeated self-promotional content is not allowed without prior approval. Share products only when genuinely helpful to others.
Be honest
Share real experiences. Do not impersonate other users, medical professionals, or the Nest31 team. Misinformation about treatments or products will be removed.
Respect different experiences
Autism affects people differently. What worked for you may not work for others. Be open-minded and never dismiss someone else's experience.
Crisis resources
If someone appears to be in crisis, do not attempt to help alone. Direct them to professional resources: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).
Enforcement
Moderators may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules. Serious or repeated violations result in permanent bans. Appeals can be submitted through the admin.

Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Nest31 ("we," "us," "our") operates the website nest31.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services. By accessing or using Nest31, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service immediately.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register through Clerk (our authentication provider), we collect your email address, display name, and a unique user identifier. You may also provide a username and select an avatar.
User-Generated Content: Posts, comments, replies, and any other content you submit to the community. This content is publicly visible to other users.
Usage Data: We automatically collect certain information including IP addresses, browser type, referring pages, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security, analytics, and service improvement.
AI Interactions: Messages sent through our AI assistant are processed by Anthropic's API. These messages may be temporarily stored for processing but are not used to build user profiles.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to: operate and maintain the Service; display your content and profile within the community; send notifications about replies and interactions; enforce our Community Rules and Terms of Service; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues; analyze usage patterns to improve the Service; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: We use third-party services including Clerk (authentication), Anthropic (AI processing), Supabase (database hosting), and Vercel (web hosting). These providers have access to your information only as necessary to perform their services and are obligated to protect it.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use browser localStorage to store preferences such as your avatar, username, dark mode setting, and saved posts. This data resides on your device. Third-party services (Clerk, advertising partners) may use cookies for authentication and analytics. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
6. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable security measures including input sanitization, rate limiting, content filtering, and security headers to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data and you use the Service at your own risk.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
Upon account deletion, your profile information will be removed. Posts and comments may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve community conversation integrity. Backup copies may persist for up to 30 days after deletion.
8. Children's Privacy
Nest31 is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; object to or restrict certain processing of your information; and data portability.

10. Disclaimer of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Nest31 is a peer-to-peer community platform. We do not verify the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any user-generated content, including but not limited to medical information, therapy recommendations, educational advice, or product endorsements.
Nest31 is NOT a substitute for professional medical, therapeutic, legal, or educational advice. Always consult qualified professionals before making decisions about your child's care, treatment, education, or legal rights.
We are not responsible for any actions taken based on content posted by users or generated by our AI assistant. Use of AI-generated information is at your sole discretion and risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEST31 AND ITS OPERATORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.
